The result is a game that looks like it came out last year, instead of in 2003. These mods add a bunch of new graphical improvements, ranging from new dinosaur skins to new sky backgrounds. Vanilla JPOG looks nice enough but the textures on pretty much everything are incredibly dated.
I’ve been mucking around with two of them, DJE and PMEP, and aside from a lot of other changes they make the game look amazing. It’s also very easily modified, so there’s a ton of mods out there for it. Despite being over 10 years old, it’s still fondly regarded as a damn good game.
Unlike most JP games, which tend to be action-based, this one’s a park sim where you build Jurassic Park into a profitable enterprise, managing problems like your guests, dangerous cyclones, and obviously the dangerous dinosaurs that you’ve brought back to life for entertainment purposes. As the name suggests, it’s based on the Jurassic Park franchise. Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis (or JPOG) is one of the best dinosaur games ever made. In the meantime, a preview of an upcoming project. I’ve been out of action for a while thanks to a spiralling amount of masters thesis revisions, but I should be back on track with this blog soon.
